Since 1988, Amano have been working with incredible artisans to bring you ethically handmade, fair trade knitwear.

Ecuadorian knitters have been with Amano for over 40 years, and even though they work high up in the mountains of Carchi, James, the Amano founder and day to day runner of everything, feels extremely close to them. They are without doubt the most talented members of the Amano family, as it takes them countless hours and years of experience to produce every piece of Amano knitwear.

Amano is for colour lovers and free spirits who want clothing with a human connection. That’s why if you look at their garment tags, you’ll find the name of the exact knitter who handmade your Amano piece.

We fell in love with Amano over twenty years ago. We couldn't believe the extraordinary creativity and attention to detail that went into everything Amano did and ever since, we have loved presenting these beauties to the world in our bricks and mortar stores, and now more recently on our online store.

We find iconic retro pieces that have been pre-loved but that have years of life left in them. You will only find pieces here that are in excellent condition, often rare and maybe even pieces you remember from your Amano past life...

This is clothing with a soul. Each piece is completely beautiful and Amano is our favourite clothing brand of all time.
