The Wonder and Beauty of Hand Block Prints

Passed down through generations, each artisan uses hand carved wooden blocks to stamp layers of colour onto fabric to form continuous patterns, rich in texture and each one being completely unique.

On average a printer would need to make about 300 impressions to produce one meter of fabric of five colours. Incredibly labour intensive, the end result is rich in heritage, with each piece carrying the mark of the printers skill and passion to create. 

We have enjoyed the art of hand block printed textiles for almost 25 years, spending many hours with artisans in Jaipur and discovering just how much care and skill goes into each piece. It's such a joy to see the revival in this artform, and to witness the deep appreciation that hand printing deserves.
